The short version

Follow the island quests, upgrade your engine, carry cooked fish, and resist completing every side objective immediately. Finish the story before collection cleanup.

01

Use the encyclopedia

Press Tab to open the creature encyclopedia. It tracks regular and drip variants separately and is the clearest way to see collection gaps.

02

Skip the early pistol

The shotgun has more staying power through the early islands. Save money for a weapon that remains useful instead of buying every tier.

03

Watch the cooking multiplier

Inspect an item with F while it is over the grill. Value rises to 1.5x and then collapses when the item burns. Pull it at the peak.

04

Buy inventory space

Late bosses are decided by how much cooked healing food you can carry. Extra hotbar and inventory slots are practical upgrades.

05

Co-op helps most fights

More guns and revives make bosses easier. The speedrun achievement is the main exception and is usually cleaner on a dedicated solo save.

06

Keep two save files

Use one normal completion save and one speedrun save. Early patch changes have invalidated older Bean routes, so do not risk your main run.

07

Keep the radar in the boat

The radar is required to read new island coordinates. Drop it in the boat while shopping to free an inventory slot, then pick it up before sailing.

08

Separate normal and boss lures

Regular lures catch the island species, Boss Lures summon mini-bosses, and story bosses use quest bait. Buying the wrong tier wastes money and durability.

09

Return every boss drop

A boss death does not always advance the route. Pick up its shell, fin, head, or tail and complete the matching NPC hand-in before leaving.

How lure durability works

Regular and mini-boss lures can break after use. Story-boss quest bait is consumed every time. Buy a spare regular lure before leaving a shop, but do not expect to reuse a quest item.

Dynamite is utility, not a primary weapon

Dynamite can supply quick food from the water, but self-damage makes it poor for close combat. Use it deliberately and keep your distance.

Finish the story before achievement cleanup

After the ending, the completed save returns to Island 1 with late-game gear and access to all five islands. This is the efficient time for Drip collection, trick shots, fast boss kills, cooking experiments, and casino goals. Attempting all of them during progression forces unnecessary lure purchases and weak-weapon fights.
