Story bosses use quest items or caught creatures rather than ordinary shop lures. Bring healing food and make sure you have completed the corresponding island hand-in first.
Upgrade one primary weapon
A fully upgraded gun for the current island is more reliable than several weak options. Use the Uzi through the middle route and reserve the Assault Rifle investment for Island 5.
Cook before the pull
Bosses punish inventory friction. Put cooked fish in predictable hotbar slots and leave enough space for the progression item that drops after the fight.
Finish the hand-in
A boss death rarely unlocks the next island by itself. Pick up the shell, fin, head, or tail and return it to the matching quest NPC.
Spider Crab
Use the encounter to learn how pulled creatures behave on land. Keep space and secure the boat keys after the fight.
Full strategyGiant Piranha
The boss produces smaller piranhas. Keep moving, focus the main target with the pistol, and clear small attackers only when they block your route.
Full strategyPufferfish
The encounter gains a poisonous trail after its midpoint. Circle in open ground, avoid the cloud, and use cooked fish between damage windows.
Full strategyAlbatross
Catch a Tuna first and place it at the center. Enter with a reliable ranged weapon, enough food, and a building selected for cover.
Full strategyMutated Bowhead Whale
This is the final gear check. Max your useful weapon, expand carrying capacity, and prepare several cooked catches before transforming the whale.
Full strategyAfter a failed attempt
Do not immediately recast a one-use quest item. First recover dropped equipment, refill healing, and confirm whether the NPC can replace the bait. Regular and mini-boss lures have durability rolls, while island story bait is normally consumed by the attempt.
If a boss leaves or despawns near the encounter timer, simplify the next run: improve ammunition to the island cap, fight in the intended arena, and focus damage on the main target instead of optional adds.
