How to beat the Pufferfish

Get the Carrot bait

Find the stranded tourist leaning against a palm tree on Island 3. The tourist asks for an endangered species. On this island, Needlefish, Seahorse, and Bowlfish satisfy the requirement.

Buy the standard Fishing Rod and a Standard Lure, then keep fishing until one of those species appears. Endangered status is shown when the catch lands. Give the whole catch to the tourist to receive the Carrot used for the boss.

Best preparation before casting

The Uzi is the most practical Island 3 weapon because it can sustain damage while the boss rolls through short openings. Buy bullet upgrades until the vendor reports the island maximum. The $600 Compensator is expensive but noticeably reduces recoil during long bursts.

Make room for cooked fish. The poison phase punishes one bad turn, and healing from an accessible hotbar slot is safer than trying to reorganize inventory mid-fight.

• Upgrade Uzi ammunition before buying cosmetic or optional gear.
• Use the open center to preserve a clear dodge route.
• Keep a tree or the grill nearby as a pathing obstacle, not as a corner to hide in.
• Optional Dynamite should be placed before the boss appears and triggered from range.

Phase 1: force the transformation

Attach the Carrot and reel the Pufferfish onto land. Its smaller form is harder to hit and does not take damage as efficiently. Maintain distance, use short Uzi bursts, and avoid standing directly in its rolling line.

A pre-positioned explosive pile can shorten this phase, but the same blast can end the attempt. Do not stand beside the bait location when firing into Dynamite.

Phase 2: avoid the purple trail

After enough damage, the Pufferfish grows and begins leaving poison behind it. The larger body is easier to shoot, but crossing the purple trail rapidly drains health. Run a broad loop that does not cut back through the last roll path.

Use palm trees and the grill to interrupt straight charges while keeping an exit on both sides. Shoot during the recovery after a roll, then reposition before committing to another magazine.

Turn in the fin

Pick up the Pufferfish progression item and return to the tourist. The hand-in supplies the coordinates for Island 4. On the radar, the next destination is the red marker leading toward the island with several buildings.
