01

Platform support and new controls

How to Fish is now fully Steam Deck Verified and playable through GeForce NOW. Steam Deck verification is an official compatibility status, while GeForce NOW lets supported users stream the game through NVIDIA's service.

The settings menu now includes toggle options for aiming and sprinting, a hold-to-attack option, and a nametag toggle. These are input and visibility choices; the notes do not describe changes to lure pools, prices, achievements, or story progression.

02

Save protection and clearer item markers

Save files are now checked for corruption before loading, and the game creates backups in case a save becomes corrupt. The announcement does not document how many backups are retained or expose a manual restore workflow, so keep a dated copy of the full Saves folder before editing or troubleshooting.

Dropped weapons now use orange map dots and dead players use turquoise dots. The roulette table on Island 6 was also moved slightly to make betting less awkward.

03

Combat and equipment changes

Your own explosives can now kill you even when friendly fire is disabled. Treat dynamite placement as a personal hazard in every multiplayer setting instead of assuming the friendly-fire option protects the thrower.

Iron sights are no longer purchasable because buying one could remove expensive attachments by mistake. A suppressor also can no longer be downgraded to a compensator. The notes do not announce changes to weapon damage values.

04

Inventory, selling, cooking, and animation fixes

Patch 1.0.11 says it hopefully fixes the join-time inventory bug that could make players invisible. It also requires an item to have been held at least once before it can be sold.

Drip Parrotfish can now be cooked correctly, and hands should move smoothly toward a picked-up item instead of sometimes teleporting. Because the inventory fix is described as 'hopefully fixed,' record repeatable post-patch failures with the exact session setup.

05

What remains from Patch 1.0.10

Patch 1.0.10 introduced water cleaning for accidentally cooked weapons and tools, persistence for up to 64 prioritized ground items, a small Anglerfish nerf, and removal of the old death-position X from the Radar.

It also addressed roulette, connection, respawn, and item-loading problems and writes the game version to player.log. These features remain relevant, but they belong to the previous patch rather than the new 1.0.11 changes.

06

A clean update checklist

This page records the historical 1.0.11 changes; use the latest available build rather than trying to install 1.0.11. As of September 15, the latest announced patch is 1.0.12. Restart Steam, update every multiplayer participant, and back up the host save before loading an important world.

  • Restart Steam instead of repeatedly launching an old cached build.
  • Keep a manual copy of the complete Saves directory even though 1.0.11 adds automatic backup protection.
  • Use a temporary session when reproducing a multiplayer or roulette problem.
  • Record version, island, player count, and the last action in any bug report.
